1: Material Production - Storybook 30% (Individual)
Assignment 1:
Design a set of reading materials (storybook) using PowerPoint and these materials must incorporate the characteristics of literature ie theme, plot, setting and characterization. Other characteristics that should be taken into consideration are text size, color, presentation and anti-bias. Send in the assignment in softcopy and hardcopy in a filed document holder. Levels must be specified and the content is representative of the level of the students. eg. Primary, secondary or Kindergarten level.
Evaluation Criteria
1. The book must be illustrated with animations and Sounds and hyperlinks
2. Content and the story must be of own creation
3. The story line must be logical
4. State what level the book is meant for.
5. Presentation/ (technical aspect)
6. Suitability to audience (Class Presentation)
7. Send in the assignments in CD(softcopy)
8. Print out of the slides should be as handouts (with six slides on a page)
9. All materials such as web sites that is referred to (must be handed in) with the assignments and books used must quoted.

Assignment 2 :
Choose a software (on CD) (the recommended ones will be discussed in class). Try out the software a few times in order to be familiar with it. Then using the criteria given, evaluate the software and write a summary on why the software is suitable for children in power point slides. This assignment has to be presented in class on the first week after the semester break.
Evaluation Criteria:
1. A suitable learning software
2. PowerPoint presentation
3. A summary on the features of the software ( eg. What it teaches, suitable for which level or age and proficiency
4. Print out of the slides should be as handouts (with six slides on a page) ~ (hardcopy)

Assignment 3:
Tadika Portfolio (Individual/pair work) (25%)
You are planning to open a new Childcare Centre. Design and prepare a portfolio for the centre. The content of the centre should include the letterhead for the centre, your business card and pamphlets for advertisement as well as brochures for the centre. Other things that should be included are Philosophy of the centre, timetable, the teaching method, the teaching staff, the staff qualifications, fees brochures, menu, some example activities and other relevant materials. You can use the portfolio from an existing centre as example. For this assignment, the recommended software to be used is the Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft Word.
